I’m swamped with preparations to leave for vacation! I have plenty of great animal intelligence stuff bookmarked, but haven’t found time to post it. To tide you over, here’s a video of a duck and a dog engaged in some sort of inexplicable behavior.
Is the duck preening the dog? What is going on? I love interspecies interaction — I just wish I understood more of it…

i had a mallard duck just like that and behaved in the same way; he is trying to mate. mallard ducks would usually bite onto something and lower its body and wiggle it. until his male duck private part touches something, he will fall over to the side and walk around really fast moving its head back and forth..obviously because he got an orgasm, and then you’re left with duck sperm to clean up. the duck’s biting process is extremely painful when trying to grab a hold of something to mate…if you see this happen, especially to your puppy, you should keep them apart. it will be very painful to your dog.
