I’m back from vacation and eager to write more about animal intelligence. While I was gone, a couple of readers (this site has readers!) forwarded stories about amazing animals. I’ll share those in the coming days.
For now — and seemingly at random, I know — here are several clips of chickens who live with cats. First up, a kitten who is friends with a chicken:
This one is more complicated. Here is a monkey who has a pet kitten. The monkey guards the kitten jealously as a chicken comes near. As somebody interested in animal intelligence, I’m fascinated by the monkey’s reaction. As a person who loves cats, I feel sorry for the kitten. (It’s touching that the monkey cares for it, but I don’t think the kitten reciprocates.)
Finally, here’s an odd scenario: a litter of kittens roosting with a chicken:
